Both this article and Internet Explorer box model bug are somewhat outdated in its coverage of box model. Given the advent of "box-sizing" in CSS3, both implementations are now standard, the so-called "CSS box model" (box-sizing: content-box) is default, and "IE box model" (box-sizing: border-box) is an option. In addition, there has been advocacy of using the border-box option -- the old IE implementation.(here, here). I am proposing articles be merged.
