4a good introduction to audio science
By Frank Peylaire
Quite comprehensive in terms of science behind the digital, missing a few dots for a five star rating, this book is about the theory and the audio geeks rather than practicality for the average audiophile

5Excellent introduction, if you like technical details
By David Townsend
If you're looking for a beginner's overview, this probably isn't the book you want.

But if you're the type who likes substantial technical information - but maybe aren't much of a mathematician - this is an EXCELLENT introduction to the subject of digital audio.

I have a shelf full of textbooks related to digital audio, but this is the one I recommend most often to serious recording hobbyists.

By Christian
If you want to get up to your neck in digital audio (and debunk a few myths along the way), this is the text for you.
