3Felt like a sales pitch

Not a lot of meat to this book. Took away a couple of salient points, but the whole thing felt like a sales pitch to go to the author's website and employ their consulting services. Found SEO 2016 by Adam Clarke to be a much better read, and quicker too.

5Great starting point for anyone new to the field.

This is a bit of "content marketing" by the authors, i.e., they hope that ultimately you will hire them as consultants but there is plenty of quality information here that should be of use to anyone exploring the field for the first time. I'm coming from a PR background and wanted to get up to speed regarding digital marketing basics and this has helped me do exactly that. At a minimum, I can now talk the talk, I understand the "big picture" and could speak with an internal marketing team or external consultant without wasting our time or making a fool of myself. Certainly this will not be the last book I read on the subject but it served as a great starting point.

...master of none. A list of lists with info you can find on every "digital marketing" book. Nothing really in depth.

good if you need a reference on all the "digiral marketing" methods (but without any deep insight on any)

i also despise the term "digital marketing". Was there an analog marketing somewhere maybe?
