Read this if you are a marketer who has not paid enough attention to e-mail marketing
I found out about the author and its experience on a Podcast at Mixergy. He was absolutely transparents on his business, traffic and income generation. So, reading this book was a priority. Matthey goes right to the point. No philosophical tales about random entrepreneurs, but step by step recommendation on every part of the E-Mail Marketing strategic and technology stack. Something I really appreciated is a list of 5 to 10 technology vendors for every task, with his personal recommendations. Making this a perfect guide for marketers who are not paying enough attention on their e-mail efforts.

Actionable advice backed up by experience and real examples.

I've been in the email marketing game for awhile and wasn't sure if I'd learn anything new in this book, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've been looking for a framework on how to generate subscribers, what to say to them once you got them, when to email them, and how to actually make money from my list. This book covers all of that plus even gives action steps on doing cold outreach via email. That's something I hadn't even thought of. Plus, it tells you what numbers to track to measure results and gives you a plan to keep improving.
The thing that stuck out to me the most is the author backs up everything he's writing with two key things. First, he summarizes all of his points into clear action steps. There wasn't a section of the book that wasn't actionable.
Second, he backs everything he recommends up with real examples from his own experience. If I hadn't bought the book on paperback, I'd be copy and pasting a bunch of the examples to test in my own businesses. That's actually one thing I wish the book had...a website where I could go to get all the examples in digital format (unless it's there and I missed it).
It's refreshing to read a book by someone who practices what he preaches. Highly recommend!

The last chapter about outbound email marketing was immediately useful to me

I was introduced to Matthew on the Mixergy.com podcast with Andrew Warner (Sep. 8, 2015 episode). I was impressed with what I heard and immediately went to mattpaulson.com and signed up for his email newsletter.
I'm just starting out doing some email marketing and the book is extremely helpful. Every chapter is ended with very clear action steps. The last chapter about outbound email marketing was immediately useful to me. I just sent out my first batch of emails to prospects using Matt's recommendations.
Also, I have to mention that John McIntyre, who wrote an excellent forward for the book, has an excellent podcast at themcmethod.com.
