Leanplum was founded in 2012 by Momchil Kyurkchiev and Andrew First.[3] The company is an alum of TechStars Seattle 2012.[4] It is headquartered in San Francisco, and maintains satellite offices in London, Bulgaria, and New York City.[5]

Leanplum has raised a total of $46.4 million in funding: $4.8 million in Series A funding in July 2014 (from Shasta Ventures)[6], $11.6 million in Series B funding in August 2015 (from Shasta Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Specialized Types)[7][8], and $29 million in Series C funding in October 2016 (from Canaan Partners and earlier investors).[2][9]
